Payapang Pasko, Puspos Ng Pag-Asa

The title of this post is this year's theme for our annual university lantern parade celebration. Roughly translated, it means A Peaceful Christmas, Full of Hope or something like that. Also, since we were this year's 3rd year batch, the job of fixing up our college's facade, making the actual lantern, and organizing the parade fell into our hands. We were divided up into committees, with each committee handling one part of the holiday celebrations. I fell into the Documentation committee, which meant I had to be where all the action was all day every day, with a camera in hand. Everyone may think that our committee had the easiest job, but I had to take a break once in a while too, since it was actually pretty tiring, taking pictures and videos of everything and randomly interviewing people, but it was definitely a lot of fun, and I got to see everything that was taking place, even occasionally lending a helping hand. It was awesome watching everyone work and do their parts diligently and happily. I watched new friendships form and old ones strengthened. I saw people having falling outs and making up. This was truly an unforgettable experience and I am glad that I got to document it all, both on camera and in my memories.

*sniffles* I think I may cry. Haha.

On to the pictures, eh?

This was our college's entry for the facade competition. We sadly did not win anything for this piece of work this year, but I know that our facade will always be the winner in our hearts. Cheesy, but true!

And this was our lantern entry this year. It's a little kid riding on a carabao holding a star-shaped lantern. We won second place this year for our lantern. Yaaaaay!

It is worth noting that everything was made from recycled materials like plastic bottles, broken CDs, cardboard, plastic bags, etc. etc. The parade (wherein we had to push our lantern around the streets through traffic) was very awesome as well, granting our college the title of "Merriest Crowd". We were loud and proud and happy as we blew bubbles, cheered, chanted, crowd-waved and ran. All that was definitely something worth remembering.

Smile,
